Politics, Coffee, Seasons and Other Things

Politics, Seasons, Coffee, and other Things

John 10:10 – Jesus said, “I have come so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.”

One said let’s make America great again. The other said America is greater than its ever been. Life is great that much is true but it’s not because of them. I listened to a song yesterday that talked about going back to the “good old days”, because today we are all stressed out. Life however is good, and it has nothing to do with the days we are living in.

We are blessed with many hobbies and a lot of information. We are blessed with some prosperity and happiness. We are blessed with a lot of things we like. We can listen to vinyl records from the good old days or mp3’s from the here and now. Yes, life is good but its not because of that.

We can take pictures with our phones or with our fancy cameras. We can even have them instantly with our polaroid type cameras, which were huge sellers this Christmas. I’m even told that film cameras are making a come back in a world where everything is digital. Life is good but its not because of that.

We can go to a coffee shop and pay $5 for a decaf, soy milk, shot of espresso, dash of whip, vanilla, mocha latte or we can make a cup of black coffee at home. We can make it with our Mr. Coffee machine or with our Keurig. We could do a pour over, or use the stovetop. There’s even something called cold-brew. Yes life is good but it’s not because of that.

Football season is rapidly drawing to a close and basketball is in full swing. The snow is melting and the rain is falling. We may have more snow or we may have an early spring, I guess it’s even possible to have both. Yes life is good but the weather or the season has nothing to do with it.

Life is good not because of coffee or weather. Life is wonderful not because of sports or photography. Life is great, no matter who is in office. Life is great even when life is hard. Life is great even when the struggles of life come and our faith is tested. That is a bold statement, even bolder than a double shot of espresso. So how can I make a statement like that? Pretty simple. Life is great no matter what because God has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us. Life is great because He is with us always. Life is great in the struggle and in the calm because we can have a relationship with God and have our sins forgiven through the Lord Jesus Christ. Life is great because He is there and He is working and moving. Life is great simply because of Jesus. So go out rejoicing, because THIS (no matter the time or seasons or anything else) is the DAY the LORD has made so let us rejoice and be glad in it.
